Ars Nova - Ars Nova (1968 Elektra)

This is so called barock-psychrock from New York. New Yourk is a very big city in USA. Some say that this Ars Nova was ahead of it's times in rock in 1968. I like this very much. Very! Therevis one odd thing on this albun: There is a tune by Richard Strauss. It very known Also Sprach Zarachustra. it is named Zarathustra in here but is the same tune than Strauss's. The odd one thing is that the piece is booked to be composed by band's pecussionist. Ok, after some first tunes of Strauss it is more like the keyboardist's. I like this anyway. I like this kind of mixed music a lot.

Dada - Dada (1970 ATCO)

This is much better than i recalled. Elkie Brooks singing Paul Korda's and mostly some other's songs. Some times this sounds like progrock and soon it is jazzy and then the most boring rock. I don't know. Andre Breton said Dada is a state of mind. Maybe this is the state of my mind when i'm listening it. There is some Rolling Stones, there is forecoming Peter Gabriel's Genesis. It is a mishmash... Do you remember Paul Korda's nice song "Seagull". It is not on this yet. Try to find it.

Guns & Butter - Same (1972 Cotillion)

Progressive rock from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. One of the finest with J.K. & Co. and Touch. Violins, viola, flute, sax. etc to be found to be heard in in here. To be.. or.. Easily drifting among prog, jazz and folk elements. I'm imagining to hear some Jethro Tull in this too. maybe it is just the flute...and dancing. Very worth listening.

Touch - Touch (1968 Coliseum)

Excellent early proto-prog from States. You have to listen to this if you really like to find out where progrock really started.

J.K. & Co. - Suddenly One Summer (1968 Blue Whale)

One of the best early american albums and at the same moment i have to say that it seems to be one of the most underrated and -forgotten gems too. Hallo there!! Wake up! This is brilliant. On my top ten American 60-70s albums list. I can't describe my... what is it.. when listening to this. Feelings!

Marshmallow Way - Same (1969 United Artists)

First class teenage yodling in the positive meaning of the word. Slight psych and garage feeling in here to be heard too. Maybe.

Game - Game (1969 Faitful Virtue)

This comes from Florida area and is quite ordinary rock with some prog and jazz aspects. Some interesting gonga and groovy parts including, but mostly a bit too ordinary to be for me. Vocal part of this is not my favourite. Worth checking anyway.

The Music Asylum - Commit Thyself (United Artists)

High level psychjazzrock. I really love this. Don't know what else to say but i love this.

Bugsy - Bugsy (1969 DOT)

Blueshy solo by ex Butterfield Blues Band singer and bassist Bugsy Maugh. Cover art's psychedelic is more obvious than the psychedelic content of the music. Flute, sax and trumpet are to be heard in here. I always think that if even these instruments are used, the music can not be bad. There is something very something in this. There is some hidden hook. Beware!

The Unspoken Word - Same (1970 Atco)

This group is from long Island. I'm sorry but the boring begin of the album does not inspire me to get in good feeling to the rest of the album either. There is one 9-minutes blueshy piece on the first side, but it does not safe the album. The guitarists part in this is the best one. He's good. I think othervise this is quite ordinary set. No kicks from this. Sorry. Sorry again.. Listening to this now again after the previous time i find this much better. This is kind of organ driven blues which turns me suprisingly on. This time.

Morning Glory - Two Suns Worth (1968 Fontana)

Traditional West Coast psychrock like Jefferson Airplane and Jorma. Every time one has a chance to take something to home one has to do it.. Jorma Kaukonen is a real Finnish name. His grandparent were from here. Jorma ( Dick, as the meaning of that one part of man in the low middle) is Finnish first name and Kaukonen Finnish last name. His son's Peter Kaukonen's album Black gangarroo is by the way better than any of Jefferson's or Jorma's. My humble opinion. Don't forget Peter's excellent blusalbum. Sorry, have to turn to this again. This is good. Wide amount of instruments played in here makes me give some extra points.
