A VERY BUTTERUOUS SUNDOWN

These albums are from my collection.

Diane Hildebrand - Early Morning Blues And Greens (1969 Elektra)

When I listen to Jan's Blues, the first song of the album I get some recalls from Nick Cave's and Kylie Minogue's: Where the wild roses grow. From Rea Who Died last Summer, begins like Leonard Cohen's Susan... Very classy singer-songwriter folk. This one of those albums which should without any doubt have got more attention.

Sam The Sham & The Pharaos - Li'l Red Riding Hood (1966 MGM)

HP Lovecraft - Same (1968 Philips)

This Chicago area band HP Lovercraft's second album is one of the best american psych-proto prog albums ever. It is said to be orchestral psychedelic rock. I agree. I like it a lot. Check out the relation to band named Bangok Flying Circus. Bangor is top too.

Phoenix - Phoenix (1970 ABC)

The Artie Kornfeld Tree - A Time To Remember (1970 Dunhill)

This is man's one and only album. Artie was a multidoing man of rock, producer, composer etc. and the one who was doing up legendary Woodstock happening. This album is from the time after Woodstock and does not wake up great feelings, but it quite good stuff anyway. Cover Art is excellent- At least I like this kind on American style ones. Music is mostly very dood with original camp fire feeling.

Daughters Of Albion - Same (1968 Fontana)

Gary Lewis - Listen (1967 Liberty)

The Rainbow Band - Same (1971 Elektra)

John Fred And His Playboy Band - Agnes English (1967 Paula Records)

John Fred And His Playboy Band - Judy In Disguise With Glasses (1967 Paula Records)

Paul Brett Sage - Same (1970 Janus)

Forum Quorum - Same (1968 Decca)

Sandy Hurvitz - Sandy's Album Is Here At Last (1967 Verve)

Glass Prism - On Joy And Sorrow (1970 Rca Victor)

Bethlehem Asylum - Same (1971 Ampex)

The Buoys - Timothy (1970 Septer Records)

This has got class. The group is from Chicago area and somehow it is to be heard in their music. Normal basic instruments added with flute and little chamber orchestra makes the music grow above average. Dinner music? And where is Timothy?

Compass - Compass (1970 AJP = Ahmad Jamal Production)

Pure american progressive music flavoured with psychedelic, jazzy and zappaish elements. One of my most interesting lately finds. Seven musicians with large amount of different instruments. I have to pick up one song, The Twins, which is very original. There is very little information about this group on Internet. One trivial fact is that cover art is designed by David Edward Byrd, who also made the famous Woodstock poster.
